Colin Porter is a Landscape Designer, Sculptor & Artist, based in North Devon, UK. Colin's connection to the natural world, his deep understanding of natural processes significantly informs his art practice.
Colin has a wealth of experience having trained at Kew Gardens, worked at Capel Manor, RHS Rosemoor and in private gardens. Developing gardens, often from a blank sheet, in response to the structural needs of a landscape site and the complex issues of sympathetic planting is his strong point.
In 2009 Colin was awarded the 'Professional Gardener of the Year' in recognition of his landscape work at North Devon Hospice.
After qualifying in Landscape Design from Plymouth University, Colin left Rosemoor and started his own landscape design and build business based in Torrington, North Devon. Since that time he has created many gardens, large and small, working with a small team of skilled landscapers and tradesmen.
His projects have ranged from a 3 year transformation of the gardens and landscape at Portledge Estate in Bideford, a private 2500 acre country estate, to potagers, cherry orchards, childrens play areas, town gardens, large private gardens and even small gardens where an ornamental pond had always been the clients heart’s desire.
